What is Microsoft Copilot (Basic)?
Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered assistant created by Microsoft that uses large language models to help you write text, search the web, create images and streamline tasks.
Who can use Microsoft Copilot (Basic)?
All University of Missouri System faculty, staff and students can use Microsoft Copilot (Basic) when accessed via Single Sign-On and username@umsystem.edu.
How to access Microsoft Copilot (Basic)
- Open Microsoft Copilot. Navigate to copilot.microsoft.com in any web browser.
- Select “Sign in with Microsoft.”
- Log in with your UM System Single-Sign On email address (username@umsystem.edu).
Once you are taken to the Copilot dashboard, verify that you see “Copilot Chat (Basic)” under your name in the lower left part of the window. This means you are using the protected version of Copilot.
Copilot features for learning
- Copilot Notebooks are workspaces for bringing together lecture slides, PDFs, notes and handouts so Copilot can provide context-aware responses.
- Study Guide is a feature within Copilot Notebooks that can generate interactive study aids using relevant course material added to Notebooks.
- Study and Learn Agent provides scaffolded chat conversions and interactive learning activities to reinforce course material and learning.
