Pilots

Man touching a maintenance system concept

UM Academic Technology frequently pilots new tools to evaluate whether they should be adopted for systemwide use. We also test upcoming Canvas features before their full release. Whenever possible, we involve faculty in these pilots so that decisions reflect real teaching experiences. Faculty participation not only helps guide our adoption choices but also allows us to provide valuable feedback to vendor partners early in the development process.

See below for the current available pilot opportunities.

Pilot: Canvas Portfolio

Canvas Portfolio is an enhanced portfolio tool that will replace the existing ePortfolio and Folio/Portfolium options in Canvas. It provides structured, purpose-built spaces for learners to collect, reflect on and curate evidence of their learning.

Pilot: Differentiation tags

Differentiation tags are a new Canvas feature that allows instructors to create custom sets of students within a course. These sets are hidden from students and can be used for various organizational and instructional purposes.
