Canvas is developing a built-in course accessibility checker. Although this tool is still in its early stages of development, it offers additional opportunities to remediate accessibility issues in Canvas pages and assignments. It also generates a report highlighting potential accessibility issues and offers guidance on how to fix each issue, making it easier to ensure Canvas content meets accessibility standards.

Pilot expectations

Faculty participating in this pilot should be prepared to utilize the Course Accessibility Checker in an active course and provide feedback to UM Academic Technology (UM AT) on the ease of use, functionality and limitations that were discovered. A brief survey will be sent directly to participants nearing the end of the pilot period.

To express interest in participating, please complete the Join a Pilot form and a member of the UM AT team will reach out to you to enable the tool in your course.
