What is Google Gemini?

Google Gemini is an advanced AI platform from Google that can understand and create text, images and code and is intended to help users with research, learning and creative projects.

Who can use Google Gemini?

All University of Missouri System faculty, staff and students can use Google Gemini when accessed via Single Sign-On and username@umsystem.edu.

How to access Google Gemini

1. Open Google Gemini. Navigate to gemini.google.com in any web browser.
2. Click “Sign in” in the top right corner. In the email field, enter your full UM System email address using the standard format: username@umsystem.edu.

Gemini features for learning

• Gemini Notebook allows you to compartmentalize materials about a specific course or subject. Upload your syllabus, lecture slides, chapter PDFs or relevant YouTube links into the source panel so Gemini teaches strictly from your curriculum.
• Gems are custom AI agents built for specific purposes. Use the Gems feature to save a permanent profile like: "You are an expert tutor for my organic chemistry class. Never give me final answers; instead, use Socratic questioning to guide me."
