Description
This session is for instructors and administrators who know how to create discussions in Harmonize and want to learn strategies for making online discussions more inclusive so that every student has a voice. We’ll cover all of the ways you can use Harmonize to encourage students of all abilities to engage with the content and each other. We’ll also highlight strategies you can use to promote more collaboration and social learning so that your students feel more connected to a learning community.
We’ll cover how you can:
- Make it easy for students to follow along by structuring course discussions based on modules or weeks
- Enable diverse learners to participate with rich, fully accessible multimedia tools and auto-captioning
- Promote student-student interactions using chat and groups
- Create a safe space for students to ask questions
- Check in with students and gauge comprehension using polls
- Support inquiry-based learning and/or subject specific questions
- Bridge the synchronous and asynchronous portions of your class
- Encourage peer-to-peer learning with social annotations of PDFs
