VoiceThread

VoiceThread is a tool that allows you to have a conversation around a piece of media. In this training you will learn how to create and grade VoiceThread assignments.

Types of VoiceThread assignments are:

• Watch
• Create
• Comment, including stacked commenting assignments

These can be combined in various ways and can be used to assess student presentations as individuals or as groups.

In this workshop, we’ll explore how VoiceThread can bring some of the best parts of an oral exam into an asynchronous, scalable format. Faculty are turning to oral assessment to get beyond AI-generated work and hear how students actually think. The challenges are time and scale. With VoiceThread, students can record themselves working through a problem, explaining their thinking, and responding to follow-up questions from peers or instructors.

In this workshop, participants will learn how VoiceThread can help educators provide multiple means of engagement, representation, action and expression for their courses. We will review all of VoiceThread’s accessibility features, including: closed captioning, automatic alt-text, video comments for ASL, and more.
