Enhancing Accessibility in Canvas: Tools to Support Your Workflow

Creating an accessible Canvas course doesn’t have to be overwhelming. This session introduces a set of tools that work together to support accessibility at every stage of course development.
In this session, you’ll learn how to:

  • Use the Canvas Accessibility Checker while creating content
  • Clean up files and content with TidyUP
  • Identify and remediate accessibility issues with Ally

By combining these tools, you can create a more efficient workflow for improving accessibility without starting from scratch.

Using Library Resources in Canvas

Make setting up readings for your classes a little easier by using your campus library’s resources in Canvas. Instead of uploading articles to your courses, with all the concerns uploading raises about copyright, rely on links to those articles and other materials. Topics include:

  • How to create permanent links to library database content
    • Library Resources tool in Canvas available at MU, UMKC, and UMSL
    • EBSCO Canvas tool at MU and UMKC
    • Proquest tool at UMKC
    • MU’s Lib Apps tool

Lucid in Canvas Overview

This session covers how to add engaging learning activities inside of Canvas using Lucid. Topics covered in this session include:

  • Using Lucidspark and Lucidchart to brainstorm, annotate, collaborate, scaffold, and best of all explore hundreds of ready to use templates.

Lucidspark is a digital whiteboard designed to support collaboration and increase student engagement during class.

Lucidchart is a diagramming and graphic organizer tool with additional features that also support advanced technical diagramming.
